Role Description:

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced and skilled Data Centre Civil Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in civil engineering for data centres, with a strong knowledge of civil design, structural drawing preparation and on-site execution. This role requires a detail-oriented, technically adept professional capable of managing complex projects and ensuring that all civil engineering aspects meet high standards for quality, safety and compliance. Key Responsibilities Civil Design and Planning • Develop comprehensive civil designs for data centre infrastructure, ensuring alignment with project requirements, structural integrity and safety standards. • Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers and mechanical engineers to optimise civil designs. • Conduct feasibility studies, site assessments and layout planning to support effective data centre operations. Structural Drawings and Documentation • Prepare detailed structural drawings and blueprints using AutoCAD, Revit or other design software. • Review and interpret architectural, structural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) drawings to ensure cohesive integration. • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for all design modifications, approvals and as-built drawings. Site Execution and Project Management • Supervise and manage on-site civil engineering activities, ensuring alignment with approved designs, schedules and quality standards. • Coordinate with contractors, vendors and other project stakeholders to monitor progress, troubleshoot issues and maintain timelines. • Perform regular site inspections to ensure compliance with project specifications, local building codes and safety regulations. Technical and Compliance Support • Ensure data centre structural elements comply with regulatory standards, including fire protection, seismic safety and environmental regulations. • Provide technical expertise on structural load-bearing capacities. • Conduct risk assessments, including TVRA (Threat and Vulnerability Risk Assessment), to address potential civil and structural hazards. Material Selection and Quality Control • Assist in the selection of appropriate construction materials for durability, sustainability and cost-effectiveness. • Oversee quality control measures for civil and structural components, coordinating with QA teams to perform tests and inspections. • Manage inventory of construction materials, ensuring timely procurement and delivery. Reporting and Communication • Prepare regular progress reports, budget analysis and project updates for stakeholders and management. • Facilitate communication between internal teams, contractors and external consultants to address design changes, site challenges and compliance issues

Key Requirements & Responsibilities:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field; a master's degree is a plus. • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in data centre civil engineering (mandatory). • Technical skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit and other civil and structural design software. • Knowledge: Strong understanding of structural engineering principles, data centre construction and infrastructure requirements. • Additional requirements: Familiarity with data centre standards (for example TIA 942 and Uptime Institute), knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations and TVRA assessments
