Detailed Data Center Design From LOD 200 To LOD 450
Identify and prioritise operational threats, vulnerabilities and resilience risks across data center operations. Our TVRA combines documentation review, on-site inspection and quantified risk assessment to support corrective action, compliance readiness and stronger operational resilience.
Full Design Development From Concept To Construction - Ready Package Across Six Disciplines
The Detailed Design and Execution Pack covers the full design development lifecycle across HVAC, Electrical (LV/MV), ELV, Fire Protection, Network, and Plumbing — all in-house, with no sub-consultant dependency. Every design is validated through CFD thermal simulation and ETAP electrical analysis before construction begins, which means design gaps that would otherwise be discovered on site at significant cost are identified and resolved at the drawing stage. A cloud-delivered, simulation-ready digital twin is produced as part of the engagement, providing the operations team with a validated model for future capacity planning and upgrade scenarios from day one of operations. The service is available for Greenfield, Brownfield, Powered Shell, and AI-ready data center variants.
Deliverables From This Engagement
What Makes Our Detailed Design Approach Different
Simulation before construction. One team across all disciplines. No interface gaps.
All six disciplines in-house — no sub-consultant interfaces
HVAC, Electrical, ELV, Fire, Network, and Plumbing are all in one co-ordinated team. There are no interface gaps between consultants for contractors to exploit, and no delays waiting for sub-consultant inputs during the design process.
Simulation as a standard deliverable, not a premium add-on
CFD and ETAP simulation are included in every Detailed Design engagement. Design decisions backed by simulation rather than assumption produce fewer contractor queries, fewer change orders, and lower construction cost.
Digital twin from day one of operations
Most facilities commission a digital twin retrospectively, months or years after handover. Technavious delivers it as part of the design engagement, which means the operations team has a validated simulation model available from the moment the facility is commissioned.
How The Detailed Design Engagement Progresses
Five Design Development Phases With Client Review Gates At Each LOD Milestone.
Schematic Design (LOD 200)
System selection, layout concepts, and preliminary calculations. Client review gate before LOD 300.
Construction Docs (LOD 400–450)
Construction drawings, specifications, and BOQ. Vendor document review initiated. Client final approval.
Design Brief
Client requirements, site constraints, and any DAP outputs confirmed. Scope and deliverable schedule agreed.
Design Development (LOD 300)
Detailed system design, equipment selection, and CFD/ETAP simulation. Client review gate before LOD 400.
Construction Support
RFI resolution, design change management, on-site engineering support through build and T&C.

Level of Development 450 is a construction-ready design with sufficient detail to allow contractors to install equipment without interpretation. At LOD 450, all equipment is specified, all co-ordination between disciplines is resolved, and all clash detection is complete. A design delivered at LOD 400 or below leaves gaps that contractors fill with on-site decisions, which is how design erosion begins.
CFD simulation identifies cooling configuration problems, hot spots, and airflow issues at the design stage, where they cost engineer time to resolve. The same issues discovered on site require equipment repositioning, additional cooling units, or structural modifications that can cost multiples of the original design fee. On a typical data center project, CFD-validated design reduces site-level corrections by a measurable margin.
Yes. Technavious offers an AI-ready data center design variant within the Detailed Design pack, covering high-density rack configurations above 10kW per rack, direct liquid cooling and rear-door heat exchanger integration, power distribution design for GPU-intensive workloads, and thermal management strategies for mixed air and liquid cooling environments.
The cloud digital twin is a simulation-ready virtual model of the facility that allows the operations team to model future capacity scenarios, test cooling configuration changes before implementing them physically, and maintain an up-to-date simulation model for maintenance planning. It is delivered at handover and remains accessible to the client as a cloud-based tool for the life of the facility.
