Independent Data Center Design Peer Review Against TIA 942C And Applicable Standards
Not every data center project uses Technavious for the original design. Clients who have an existing design from an internal team or a third-party Independently validate data center design quality, compliance readiness and engineering performance before construction. Our Design Peer Review assesses designs against TIA 942C and applicable standards, providing actionable findings, gap analysis and certification readiness recommendations.
An Independent Technical Review Providing Specific, Actionable Findings
The Design Peer Review service is a structured independent assessment of a proposed data center design against the applicable engineering standards. It is not a compliance audit and does not produce a certificate, but it does provide the client with a clear picture of where the design meets standard requirements and where it does not, with specific recommendations for each finding. The review is conducted by Technavious's in-house design team, who bring the same multi-discipline expertise to the review as they apply to original design work. The optional CFD and ETAP validation components provide quantitative evidence of thermal and electrical performance rather than relying solely on the review engineer's assessment of the design documentation.
Deliverables From This Engagement
Why An Independent Peer Review Adds Value
A review by the engineers who will certify the facility is more valuable than a review by engineers with no certification responsibility.
TIA 942C auditor accreditation makes the review more credible
When a firm that holds TIA 942C auditor accreditation reviews a design for certification readiness, the assessment reflects the same standards framework that will be applied in a formal audit. Generic engineering consultants conducting peer reviews may identify different issues than a certified auditor would.
Optional simulation provides quantitative evidence
CFD and ETAP validation go beyond what a documentation review can determine. They confirm that the design will perform as specified under real operating conditions, which is the standard applied in TIA Facility Certification.
Findings are specific and actionable
The review report identifies specific issues with specific recommendations, not generalised observations. Clients receive a clear remediation list rather than a narrative commentary.
How A Design Peer Review Engagement Works
Three phases from documentation submission to findings report.
Simulation (if selected)
CFD and ETAP models built from design documentation. Simulation results compared against design intent.
Documentation Review
Design drawings, calculations, and specifications received and reviewed against applicable standards.
Findings Report
Design review report, gap analysis, and certification readiness assessment delivered with a client debrief session.

A peer review is an independent assessment, not a pre-certification. It significantly improves the probability of passing a formal TIA 942C audit by identifying and allowing resolution of compliance gaps before the formal submission, but it does not constitute the audit itself.
The review requires the full design package including drawings, calculations, and specifications for all disciplines. For the optional CFD simulation, we require HVAC layout drawings and equipment specifications. For ETAP analysis, we require the single-line diagram and equipment schedules.
Yes. The certification readiness assessment section of the review report is specifically structured to identify what changes would be required to achieve TIA 942C Design Certification. Many clients use a peer review as the preparation step before submitting for formal certification.
A standard design peer review without simulation takes two to four weeks from documentation receipt to report delivery, depending on the scope and complexity of the design. Reviews including CFD and ETAP simulation typically take four to six weeks.
